Rock Creek Conservancy Committees PDF Print E-mail

Committees play a vital role in our work.   Most committees have a meeting or conference call every other month.

We welcome new members!  You can visit a committee meeting to meet people and learn more about what we do.   Please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you would like to come to a meeting or find out more.  Serving on a committee is a fun way to learn more about Rock Creek, be involved in the community, and get to know other people who care about Rock Creek.

Program Committee

Chair:  Katherine Schinasi

The Program Committee works to carry out the Conservancy's mission through planning, setting priorities for advocacy, and evaluation of program activities.  Our activities include cleanups, storm drain marking,  non-native weed removal, monitoring, protecting land and water from unsustainable development, and implementation of demonstration projects to reduce polluted runoff, the greatest threat to the health of Rock Creek.

Fundraising Committee

Chair:  Betty Kotcher

This committee identifies potential sources of funding for Conservancy's activities and conducts fundraising campaigns including direct mail, memberships promotions, special events, major gift solicitations, grant applications, and corporate sponsorships.

Finance Committee

Chair:  Barry Lemley

This committee develops the Conservancy's budget and manages the organization's finances.

Governance Committee

Chair:  Tracy Bowen

This committee is responsible for nonprofit governance, including ensuring that officers and board of directors pursues the Conservancy's programs within its bylaws and other governing documents.  The Governance Committee also identifies and nominates new board members and officers, ensures that board members function without conflicts of interest, and periodically reviews organizational documents to ensure that they meet the organization's needs.
