2016 MLK Weekend of Service - Soapstone Invasive Removal - 1.18.2016

Join Rock Creek Conservancy, and the National Park Service, as we celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend of Service. Volunteers will be out at multiple sites from Saturday, January 16th to Monday, January 18th. Tools, gloves, bags and training will be provided at each site and SSL hours can be earned. 

Volunteer Activity: Volunteers will help remove invasive plant from the Soapstone area of Rock Creek Park. 

When: Monday January 18th from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. 

Where: Volunteers will meet at the corner of Fort Dr. NW and Abemarle St. NW. Street parking is available and the location is a short distance from the Tenleytown Metro Stop. 

What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the weather. It may be chilly so dress warmly and in layers. Wear sturdy boots or sneakers, no sandals. 

What to Bring: Bring water. Tools and gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring your own tools and gloves if you have them. Students can earn SSL hours, but please bring needed forms.
