Join Rock Creek Conservancy and the National Park Service for a special beautification planting of an area of Rock Creek Park off of Rock Creek Parkway!
Event Activity: Volunteers will help plant daffodils and wildflowers in support of Rock Creek Park's ongoing beautification plan. The plan, which harks back to Lady Bird Johnson's original beautification campaign launched in the 1960s, will be completed throughout Rock Creek Park in the coming years.
When: Saturday, May 13, 2017. There will be two shifts for this event, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. THIS SIGNUP LINK IS FOR THE MORNING SHIFT FROM 9:00 AM TO 12:00 PM!
Location: Rock Creek Parkway and Pennsylvania Ave NW - The plot of land is near the exit ramp off of Rock Creek Parkway to Pennsylvania Ave NW, directly adjacent to the Four Season's hotel. Final meeting details will be sent to all registered volunteers. Parking is unavailable directly near the site. Please consider public transportation (the Foggy Bottom station is close by), or park in the Georgetown neighborhoods or at Thompson's Boat Center.
What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the weather. Wear sturdy boots or sneakers, no sandals. We recommend long pants and sleeves to prevent contact with poison ivy.
What to Bring: Bring water. Tools and gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring your own tools and gloves if you have them.
