Join Rock Creek Conservancy, and the National Park Service as we celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend of Service.
Volunteer Activity: Volunteers will help remove trash from the Piney Branch section of Rock Creek Park.
When: Saturday, January 14. 2017 from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM.
Where: Volunteers will meet at Picnic Area 29 in the Piney Branch section of Rock Creek Park. The closest intersection is 17th Street and Piney Branch Parkway NW, Washington, D.C. 20011. Street parking is limited, volunteers are encouraged to park on Arkansas Ave in the surrounding neighborhood. The site is about a 20-minute walk from the Petworth Metro station on the Green and Yellow line.
What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the weather. Layers and a hat to prevent exposure to the cold is recommended. Wear sturdy boots or sneakers, no sandals. We recommend long pants and sleeves to prevent contact with poison ivy.
What to Bring: Bring water. Tools and gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring your own tools and gloves if you have them. Students can earn SSL hours, but please bring needed forms.
