DC Adopt A Stream Leader Training - 2.3.2018
February 03, 2018 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
201 M St NE, Washington, DC 20002, USA
Join the Alice Ferguson Foundation and Rock Creek Conservancy as we partner to launch DC's first residential Adopt A Stream program!.
The Adopt A Stream program connects people to their local watershed through stewardship. Participants conduct a data cleanup two times a year. The monitoring data provides valuable baseline and comparative data that contributes to public policy and education. We also ask you to help identify any needed improvements for your stream, including access issues, invasive or native species, vandalism, or unusual wildlife patterns.
This pilot project will give 5 interested leaders an opportunity to track levels of trash within DC's waterways utilizing the same resources and tools that researchers use to collect information on the Anacostia River's Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for trash. This citizen-science collected data will then be shared with the District Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) to help improve waterway quality in DC.
