Park projects

Rock Creek Park provides recreational opportunities like picnic spots, fishing, biking, and more to millions of DC area residents and visitors alike, and provides key habitat to the Hay's Spring amphipod—found nowhere else in the world—as well as coyotes, migratory songbirds, wild turkey, and more wildlife. Rock Creek Conservancy facilitates donations to restore, improve, and activate its special places and landmarks in numerous ways.

Park signage

Rock Creek Conservancy worked with the National Park Service to create a cohesive, visual welcome to Rock Creek Park and its many small satellite parks throughout Washington, DC. These new signs will:

  • Provide concise and consistent messaging.

  • Streamline sign design to reduce visual clutter and redundancy

  • Use pictographs to improve visual accessibility and overcome language barriers.

  • Harmonize with historic landmarks, woodland pathways, and diverse locations across the city.

The National Park Service and the Conservancy have begun installing these new signs, especially new trailhead signs, throughout the park. The community will continue to see this transformation occur as we secure funding to replace signage.
