Ways to Volunteer

  • Public Volunteer

Here you will find all of Rock Creek Conservancy's upcoming public volunteer events. Children are welcome with adult supervision unless otherwise specified.

  • Corporate Engagement

Are you looking to get your employees outside for an activity that emphasizes team building, environmental stewardship, and a commitment to the community? Schedule your community service event today.

  • Become A Stream Team Leader

Adopt your favorite section of Rock Creek and become a champion of the watershed in your community. Reach out to community members to encourage good environmental stewardship.

  • Weed Warriors

Want to remove invasive plants on your own time? You’re going to need some training before you can start pulling plants out of Rock Creek Park. Rock Creek Conservancy provides Weed Warriors the tools and support they need to become community leaders and to host their own volunteer events in their favorite parks!

  • Extreme Cleanup

Every April we celebrate Earth Month by hosting the Extreme Cleanup. This project, which is part of the Alice Ferguson Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup, engages thousands of volunteers each year.

  • Weed Wrangle

Save the date! Our third annual Rock Creek Weed Wrangle will take place from September 9 through October 7. The Rock Creek Weed Wrangle is an area-wide volunteer-powered effort to help rescue our public parks and green spaces from non-native invasive species.

  • Water Quality Monitoring

If you are interested in monitoring this season, please contact us and register for one of the upcoming trainings for DC sites.

  • At Home Stewardship

Our actions outside of Rock Creek Park help keep the creek and forests healthy. Work independently or with family, neighbors, or friends!

Rock creek conservation corps

The Rock Creek Conservation Corps (RC3) is a six-week summer youth employment opportunity that provides Washington, DC and Montgomery County high school students their first job in conservation. RC3 provides environmental education and leaves young people with enduring connections to their nearby public lands. Since 2015 more than 150 young people have participated, helping to protect and restore Rock Creek and developing the tools to be life-long stewards of this urban oasis.
