Picnic Grove #1
Near the intersection of Tilden Street NW and Beach Drive is Picnic Grove #1. There are bathrooms, parking, and a big open meadow perfect for placing a blanket on the ground and basking in the sun’s rays. With plenty of picnic tables around, this can easily be a great spot to invite the whole family. Reservations aren’t necessary, but can be placed through NPS.
Picnic Grove #1 is located next to a piece of history at Peirce Mill. On the corner of Shoemaker and Spring of Freedom streets the Mill was built in 1829. In its heyday, the Mill produced ground corn, wheat, and rye powered by the Creek’s water.
Picnic grove #24
Located across from the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center at the intersection of 16th Street and Kennedy Street NW. Picnic Grove 24 has a covered picnic pavilion with tables and a large grill that’s perfect for a cookout. There’s fun for everyone with a large space for playing games and a nearby playground.

Picnic grove #10
Tucked away in a beautiful, shaded part of the park. Groves 9 and 10 feature secluded tables closer that provide a beautiful view of the water. Picnic Area #10 is located on Beach Drive at the north-central section of Rock Creek Park. There are picnic tables, a grill, and even a stone fireplace available.
